Our Story & Mission
Providing a safe haven for
Neglected, unwanted and abandoned animals
The animal rescue charity was founded in 1991 by mother and daughter Jan and Fiona Rose, who initially took in strays from the next door police station. News travelled fast that the duo would take in unwanted pets or strays and it wasn’t long before waifs and strays were being left on their doorstep.
Desperate for funding and a more suitable home for these animals, it initiated the creation of our Charity, now affectionately known as “the small charity with a big heart”.
The aims of the
Animal Rescue Charity
To provide a safe haven (sanctuary) for neglected, unwanted, abandoned animals and wherever possible to treat and re-habilitate all animals, including wildlife; sanctuary as we see it being a place of protection; a refuge.
To overcome the pain and suffering previously endured, with kindness and understanding.
To treat animals with respect and compassion.
To be aware that because animals cannot speak for themselves we must be their voice.
To allow animals to live their life without fear or exploitation.
To run a rehabilitation programme, which ensures that any animal leaving us will be well cared for and afforded the affection so desperately needed in order to thrive.
