Rescues

Zeus is representative of the many dogs rescued this year by virtue of our Save a Dog (SAD) campaign. His story is very typical and if he could speak we might be enlightened as to how such a beautiful one and a half year old innocent and trusting animal very narrowly ended his days in a cramped and overcrowded dog pound in the Midlands with only hours left to live.  Such pounds will, as a matter of policy, euthanase any dog, irrespective of age, if not claimed within seven (sometimes five) days.

Jilly is only one of the abandoned and homeless dogs rescued under our SAD (Save a Dog) programme and, as with most of these unfortunate animals it is not too unusual for them to be pitifully underweight and malnourished.

These three little cuties are representative of the numerous kittens rescued during a typical season, which as a rule tends to span from April to November.  During this time each day brings with it the hustle and bustle of arranging and re-arranging in order to create just a little more space to accommodate just a few more desperate waifs.

As everyone working within the confines of our little Charity knows, life preservation seldom presents itself as black and white. In fact, there are many shades of grey in between when it comes to saving an animal or animals. Numerous situations are not covered by a textbook and rely entirely upon the knowledge and understanding of our Sanctuary’s staff and carers alike.
